The Rituals of MISING tribe

The North East is said to be the meeting place of different ethnic groups of India. There are many ethnic groups in Assam. The ethnic groups of the North East and Assam differ in their way of life and social and religious culture. Similarly, they organize religious and spiritual ceremonies according to their own rules and regulations. There are relative differences in the rules and regulations of most ethnic groups.

There are also differences in the rules and regulations of the Mising people.

Their religious beliefs, rituals and food habits are not similar to those of other ethnic groups in Assam.

The Mising people organize various auspicious festivals annually for the welfare and development of their daily lives and society.

These are –

  • The rituals organized for social welfare are:

  1. Dobur Puja ,

  2. No:purukhiya Taleng Ui

  • The rituals organized for the welfare of the household are:

  1. Arig Dobur,

  2. Erang Dobur,

  3. Erang Taleng Ui, ,

  4. Dangoriyang Ui,

  5. Okum Saki

  • The rituals organized for the welfare of individuals are:

  1. Satjoniyang Ui,

  2. Bamidbalab Ui,

  3. Pejap Ui,

  4. Ater Dangoriyang,

  5. Yumrang Dangoriyang.
