Do:dgang is a shraddha ceremony held in honor of the dead by the Mising community. Do:dgang is considered as doha, it is the final farewell of the deceased where a feast is held. According to the Misngs, Dad Gang is the last food shared with the dead.
According to this belief, it refers to the custom of offering a portion of the food prepared at the grave of the person in memory of whom the dad gang is performed during the ceremony. Like any feast, the commemoration of the event requires song and dance. Sometimes families deliberately wait more than a year or perhaps longer before performing Do:dgang, as the memories of the deceased remain fresh in their minds for a long time and they are reluctant to give up the memories because they provide a connection between the deceased and them. Dad Gang is a joyful farewell to the dead so that they can move on to the next stage, that is, to the land of death and finally to rebirth.
