The traditional houses of the Mishings are almost made of bamboo and wood. Since the Misings live on the banks of the river, they consider the changghar to be more useful to get rid of the floods.

The height of the roof in their house is around 3 to 4 feet and uses straw on the roof. In front of their house, a chang is given to rest and rub paddy in the sun called "Tungeng" and the ladder used to climb the changghar is called "Kobang" as well as the handle allowed to climb the ladder is called "Lagjun". From top to bottom their house is ten layered. There are five layers to the top from the chang and five layers at the bottom along with the chang.

In the middle of the house lies their kitchen which is called "Meram". The eastern side of "Meram" is called "Riesing" and the western side is called "Koktog".

The head of the "Riesing" house and the cook from "Koktog" make the meal as well as the dish washing chang on the back side of the house is also called "Koktog".
